Adding to our highly successful 11 plus tutoring centres across the West Midlands, students from Gloucester, Cheltenham and Stroud will now be able to benefit from our bespoke 11 + tuition courses from our newest tuition centre based in Brockworth, Gloucester. We also offer primary (Key Stage 2 English and Maths tuition) and SATs courses from St George's Church Centre in Brockworth, Gloucestershire, initially on Monday evenings.
Our ethos is to nurture young minds into becoming critical thinkers and develop the skills needed to successfully complete the 11 plus exam, whilst ensuring we can respond to the needs of each individual student. Our small group tutoring sessions are all conducted using pencil and paper, using original resources to enhance learning. As we only see students for a limited time, we offer weekly homework packages to solidify classroom learning and encourage a little and often approach to work outside of our lessons. Lessons are fast paced but fun and because we keep our group sizes small, we remain agile to students needs and can differentiate work within a group setting, whilst also allowing students to build competitive friendships.
The foundation course (year 3) is our newly established programme for 7-8 year olds who may be thinking about sitting the Gloucestershir 1 plus exam in the future.The course is accessible to a wide range of children, not just children hoping to sit the 11 plus exam and students will bolster their English and Maths understanding in line with the national curriculum. For those students who are thinking of enrolling for the Gloucestershire 11 plus exam in the future will be given an early introduction to some Verbal and Non-Vera Reasoning tasks, making it a brilliant way to prepare your child for the 11+ Jr and Year 5 11+ courses, becoming familiar with the way our sessions work.
The Gloucestershire 11+ Jr Tuition Course is designed to build solid foundations within core 11+ maths topics, comprehension skills and exposing students to all the varieties of Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Spatial Reasoning questions as part of the Gloucestershire GL 11+ exam board. This course will sharpen student’s skills ingrained from ‘The Foundation Course’ and navigate a path for students to seamlessly progress into our year 5 11+ tuition course. Weekly homework material and half termly progress papers and reports are available to consolidate course material.
Our Year 5 Gloucestershire 11 Plus Tuition Course will cover higher level maths topics that form the year 6 maths curriculum, English comprehension skills, spelling and punctuation, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Spatial Reasoning and crucially, diving deeper into 11 plus exam technique. Students will regularly complete tasks under timed conditions, allowing them to become adept at working under pressure and maximising their scores under the Gloucestershire 11 Plus exam format. Students also have the opportunity to take part in our 11+ summer intensive course, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning masterclasses and 11 Plus Mock Exams which run in the lead up to September.
We recommend opting for our package which includes weekly homework material as part of all our 11 plus and SATs tutoring courses to help students consolidate their classroom learning with us. Included in this package is weekly homework material and regular (half termly) progress test papers for students to practise the material taught each half term, to the 11 plus or SATs format. Allowing us to share progress and areas of strength and weakness with parents.
Through our sister company – The 11+ Mock Exam Company we run regular 11+ Mock tests for the Gloucestershire 11 plus Consortium. Our Gloucestershire 11+ mock test papers have been expertly designed to replicate the most up to date question styles, format, and timings of the actual 11 plus exam.
Understanding the exam process and practising exam technique under strict test conditions is as important as learning the course material itself. Routinely, students need to sit at least three 11 Plus Mock Exams to become familiar with the test style and to perform at their best. Sitting multiple of the Gloucestershire 11+ Mock Exams allows your child to be tested on a wide variety of Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning topics to identify any which may need extra support prior to taking the real test.
